From a young age, Chris Coluccio’s love of technology was practically hard-wired. At 8 years old, he coded his first program and as technology advanced, his love of computers only expanded. This path would lead Chris to Dowling College, majoring in Computer Science. During that time, he worked on projects such as the “Big Dig” in Boston and large construction projects in Manhattan. Chris always seemed to be the resident unofficial “IT guy”, often fixing computers for everyone, especially during a time when email was still a foreign concept. It was at this time when he realized his calling. Chris would become the IT Administrator of one of the largest print manufacturers on Long Island, which would serve as a steppingstone for his career in IT.
In 2002, Chris, along with his former business partner, formed Techworks Consulting, Inc., with the premise of bringing technology to companies so they can reach their fullest potential. Chris believed in taking a holistic approach—the goal being to provide long-term solutions rather than short term fixes— carrying that mentality into his role as a leader.
In 2017, Chris knew the company needed a change; so, after much research, Techworks implemented the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) Framework company wide. This led to the adoption of our Core Values, Core Focus, and a new way of running the company. Soon after, Chris would make a difficult decision to buy out his partner to become sole owner of Techworks Consulting, Inc. further propelling the company into an upward trajectory.
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Chris’ adaptability and ingenuity shined in a time when there was so much uncertainty regarding the future. Businesses who were once brick-and-mortar now had employees working from home, and Chris understood clients would be relying on Techworks to ensure business continuity. Not only were Techworks clients taken care of, but Chris ensured his staff was looked after as well. Our 4pm shots still took place (albeit virtually) while online events like poker night kept our team connected. Constant communication and understanding became the cornerstones of how Techworks was able to stay successful throughout the pandemic.
Chris is widely recognized for his vigorous advocacy of technological innovations and high standards for quality support and services. He has become a pillar in the community and has become an excellent resource for individuals and companies alike to use as a technological expert. Chris is the co-chair of the HIA-LI Technology Business Committee, the Vice President of the MacArthur Business Alliance, and the President of the Christopher A. Coluccio Foundation in memory of his son.
While Chris’ career has spanned decades, and 20 years have been dedicated to the IT industry, there is one job that he holds nearest and dearest to his heart, and that is the role of Dad.
From starting in the back of a print shop to now housing a staff of 30 in over 8,000 sq ft.—Chris is the embodiment of the American dream.
